The Ribwich or Ribz

This is simplified from the original at Fat Free Vegan which was first introduced to me by friend and fellow Hokie, Loretta.

 

1 c vital wheat gluten
2 t smoked paprika
2 T nutritional yeast
2 t onion powder
1 t garlic powder
3/4 cup water
2 T tahini

1 t Liquid Smoke
1 T soy sauce
1 cup BBQ sauce, divided

 

1.      Oven to 350F

2.      Mix all dry ingredients

3.      Mix all wet ingredients except BBQ in a separate bowl

4.      Combine the wet with the dry and knead.

5.      Press into an oil baking pan (8x8 and glass are recommended)

6.      Cut into 16 rib-sized pieces with a pizza cutter (7 cuts lengthwise and one down the middle)

7.      Bake for 25 minutes

8.      Top with about ¾ c BBQ sauce

9.      Bake 5-10 more minutes

10.  Serve on toasted buns with additional BBQ sauce
