Jerry Spinelli

Jerry Spinelli is the author of Stargirl and a least a dozen other books. Wringer and Maniac Magee have won the Newberry Award. He is still writing to this day!

          He was born on February 1, 1941 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. When he was little he dreamed of becoming a major league baseball player. As he was growing up, he started to think about being a writer. He wrote his first book when he was 16.

    Jerry married Eileen Spinelli. They have 6 kids and 11 grandchildren.
